Long before I moved out of my parents’ house I was an avid HGTV fan. Now that I’m a homeowner, I channel all of that inspiration and try to express it within the confines of my condo. So far I’ve found the best way to maximize my creativity in small square footage is to update my decor with each change of season.
Despite the snow on the ground, spring fashion is in the air! It is time to replace my snowman cookie jar with flowers, my Christmas pillow with fresh tassels, and my fur throw with ruffles. But one of my favorite ways to transform my living space? A new table setting. I spruced up my dining table this weekend and LOVE how it came out. I’m ready for brunch:
My three favorite things about this tabletop:
1. Updated Buffalo Check Tablecloth: I work in retail, so I know how strong buffalo check came in this fall. It is such a traditional pattern and I am happy to see it continue into the spring. BUT, it needs an update from the black and white.
This tablecloth combines grey, beige and a pastel seafoam green. It is such a refresh and though it fits in perfectly with the color story in this space, it would also look great with pale yellow walls, white washed wood, and ship lap.
2. Rattan Place Mats: These faux rattan placements were only $1.29! I love the circle shape and how they frame the plates. They are narrower than a typical rectangle place mats which gives the illusion of more table space. The natural color reminds me of dinner in the backyard. So many spring vibes.
I bought 4 for my table, but I love them so much I might go back and get 4 more! After all, one day I hope to have a dining room with a table that fits more than four places.
3. These. Mugs.: I have a mug fetish. I think the only thing my mom was excited about when I moved out of the house was that she gained cabinet space when I took all of my mugs with me. I’m already at capacity in my new home, but I couldn’t help but buy these when I saw them. They were only $3.99!
I love the shape of the shape and just how much coffee they can fit in the morning 🙂 The muted color pallet is trendy and can be mixed and matched with other spring staples. The texture catches the eye without being as bold as a pattern. Everything I love in a mug.
This table setting is going to continue looking beautiful through Easter!
