I was inspired by this magazine spread because it was the SECOND time I had seen a whole spread dedicated to pastel blue and pink.
Usually in magazines the couture ads stay the same for months at a time, but the “trend” spreads and the “how to make this look” change. So when I saw this combination appear for the second time, I knew it was something I had to re-create.

Typically I’m not a denim on denim girl, for one of two polar opposite reasons (changes depending on the day): 1. It is too southern/farm fashion for my suburbia roots. 2. It is too chic for, well, my dreams of being a mini-van mom.
However, this chambray dress was such a pale blue that it didn’t scream “Denim”. The material is so soft that it is a completely different texture against the true denim jacket. You could probably do the opposite and go for a very deep indigo chambray paired with this light denim jacket.
Plus – I like any excuse to break out my hot pink purse 🙂
