Tie-Dye Midi Dress Styled 4 Ways

This is the last tie-dye or a while – I promise! You’ll get a break from it when I start styling pieces I got during the LOFT sale.

This dress will pop up again in tomorrow’s post *spoiler alert* so I won’t go into too many details. Instead, I’ll just get right down to the styling:

With Snakeprint

If you are looking for a way to mix-and-match tie-dye with different patterns, these outfits should be a good indicator that it works great with snakeskin print. I didn’t even realize two of the shoes are paired were of that print!

Why does it work so well?

  1. The ice-blue compliments the grey color of the snake print. Other colors that would work are sea foam green, lavender, and any other color in the pastel family. If your tie-dye has oranges, burgundy, or navy, it wouldn’t look bad with a grey snakeskin print, but you could try it with a brown-ish snakeskin, too.
  2. The tie-dye print is large, versus the snakeskin has tiny speckles. The difference in this size is a great balance.

To add a little shape to the dress, I tied a jean jacket around my waist. A belt would work just as well!

With a Jacket for Work

I love dressing up casual t-shirt dresses with that extra layer to make it more work-appropriate. At first I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this dress paired with the white blazer, but it grew on me. I think a pair of nude pumps would have really topped off this look.

What do you think? Do you like this dress styled for work, or would you keep it casual?

Wear it as a Shirt

I saved the best for last! This is the most creative I’ve gotten with this dress (and I’ve styled it many more ways than is on this page). If you have any longer dresses that are a little more fitted, you can definitely try tucking it into a skirt to wear as a top – can you even tell?

Style tip: this styling worked because the dress is a full, flowy maxi dress. Make sure your skirt has a lot of volume to hide the bunched up fabric of the tucked in dress. Styling this with a pencil skirt or slip dress would simply make your hips look wider.

I’ve styled this dress many more ways on my Instagram. Make sure to follow @klosetbykrista on Instagram and LIKEtoKNOWit for more outfits, daily looks and style tips!
